Papier mache sculptures – work in process

It’s probably going to be at least a few days until I’ve finished anything to upload so instead I thought I’d give you a wee taster of what’s to come.

The first is essentially a larger and more complex version of ‘Gravalash’ from my previous post; I expect this to take a few weeks to complete given my limited window of opportunity to actually get any work done … particularly with my daughter refusing to take her afternoon nap, being up to your elbows in paper pulp and white glue doesn’t seem to mix particularly well with parenting!!

I’ve got most of this piece mapped out in my mind already, although there are a few practical and aesthetic details that remain fuzzy at best, like what to do about the feet, or the legs, indeed does it need ‘legs’ or will it work without?  Questions questions!  I’ll cross these creative bridges when I get to them.

The next sculpt is more a figure of form than detail and was meant to be an evenings work, but has turned out to be more involved than I thought!  The idea came from a blog I read ages and ages ago and if I could find it again I’d give you the link, I’ll look again later.

The original thought was ‘Ballerina’, although whenever I look at it now I just think, “I’m singing in the rain …”?!
